The job

What we did and why

This building in Silver City has a steel frame with open-web steel trusses under the roof, tall walls with windows on two levels, and wood-framed rooms going in on a concrete floor downstairs and a wood subfloor upstairs. We sprayed foam on the outside walls of both floors and across the underside of the roof, working off scaffolding for the tall walls and around the windows and the framing already in place.

Foaming the shell before the inside is finished means every wall and the whole roof get covered in one pass, including the corners and transitions that are hard to reach once the rooms are closed in. Silver City sits near 6,000 feet with hot summer days and cold nights, so the shell does a lot of work.

What we installed

  • Spray foam on the exterior walls of both floors
  • Spray foam across the underside of the roof, between the steel trusses
  • Sprayed around the windows and the interior framing already in place
