The job

What we did and why

This job in San Patricio, in the Hondo Valley, was inside a steel building being finished with framed walls, a roll-up door and a small room with a wood ceiling and a skylight. We covered the floor with plastic, then sprayed foam into the stud bays of the framed exterior walls, around the plumbing lines, the electrical boxes and the steel bracing.

Spraying the stud bays seals the gaps where the framed walls meet the steel shell, the kind of gaps that batts tend to leave open. The Hondo Valley sits lower and warmer than Ruidoso, but its summer days still run hot and its nights cold, so a tight wall pays off in both seasons.

What we installed

  • Spray foam in the stud bays of the framed exterior walls
  • Sprayed around plumbing lines, electrical boxes and steel bracing
  • Foam up to the roll-up door and walk-in door openings

Protected before spraying

  • Floor covered with plastic sheeting
