The job

What we did and why

This steel building in Los Lunas, south of Albuquerque, is one open span with dark steel frames, a row of windows down each side and walk-in doors at the ends. We sprayed foam over the inside of the roof panels from eave to ridge and down the wall panels to the slab, working around each window and door and leaving the frames bare.

In the middle Rio Grande valley a steel building bakes in the summer sun and cools off fast at night. One unbroken coat of foam on the panels slows that swing, closes the laps and screw holes where air gets through, and keeps warm inside air off the cold steel, so the roof is less likely to drip on winter mornings.

What we installed

  • Spray foam across the underside of the roof panels, eave to ridge
  • Spray foam on the wall panels, down to the slab
  • Sprayed up to and around the windows and walk-in doors
