The job

What we did and why

Shipping containers make handy storage and workshops in the mountains, but bare steel walls sweat and swing with the weather. In this container in Alto we sprayed foam over the corrugated walls and ceiling and across the inside of the cargo doors, following every ridge of the steel and leaving the wood floor as it was.

Foam suits a container well: it sticks to the corrugations without furring strips, adds no studs to eat into the narrow width, and seals the steel so it is far less likely to drip on whatever is stored inside.

What we installed

  • Spray foam across the ceiling
  • Spray foam on the inside of the cargo doors
