The job

What we did and why

Not every job is inside a building. Here in Alto we sprayed the outside face of a new concrete-block wall while the trench beside it was still open, covering the lower part of the wall that ends up below grade and wrapping the foam around the corner and the end of the wall.

Foam on the outside of the block insulates the wall from the cold ground and seals the face of the block, and it has to go on before the backfill does. In the pines around Alto, where the ground freezes in winter, an open trench is the one chance to get it there.

What we installed

  • Spray foam on the outside face of the block wall, from the footing up
  • Foam wrapped around the corner and the end of the wall
  • Applied while the trench was open, before backfill
