Concrete Lifting & Leveling in Albuquerque

Why Albuquerque concrete sinks, and how leveling fixes it

A lot of Albuquerque is built on dry, loose soil that packs down the first time it gets soaked. A monsoon storm, a canale dumping off a flat roof, a leaking irrigation line, or a downspout aimed at the driveway is enough to do it, and the slab above drops with the dirt. Down in the valleys near the river, irrigation and a shallow water table keep the ground softer still. The result is a driveway that dips at the garage, a sidewalk joint that catches a toe, or a patio that tips water back toward the house.

Concrete leveling fixes that without breaking anything out. We drill a few dime-sized holes, inject polyurethane foam that expands under the slab and raises it, and patch the holes. The foam weighs very little, so it doesn’t add load to soil that already gave way, and it cures in minutes. Before we lift, we look for the water that caused the drop, because a slab lifted over the same leak or downspout will be back where it started.

Typical concrete leveling jobs in Albuquerque

  • Driveways that dropped where they meet the garage slab
  • Sidewalk joints that became trip hazards along the front yard
  • Patios and walks tilted back toward the house
  • Garage floors settled over poorly compacted fill
  • Courtyard and pool deck slabs at older valley homes

What we plan around in Albuquerque

  • Dry, loose soil that packs down the first time it gets wet
  • Monsoon storms and canales that dump water beside slabs
  • Irrigation ditches and shallow groundwater near the river

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Find the cause

We look at the slab, how far it dropped, and where the water that softened the ground came from.

  2. Step 2

    Drill

A few dime-sized holes go through the slab. No saw cuts and no jackhammer.

  3. Step 3

    Lift

Polyurethane foam goes in under the slab and expands, and we watch the concrete come up as it does.

  4. Step 4

    Patch

The holes get patched and the area cleaned up. The crew confirms when foot traffic and vehicles can return.

Concrete Lifting & Leveling in Albuquerque: common questions

Both lift concrete. Mudjacking pumps a heavy cement slurry under the slab; polyurethane foam weighs a small fraction of that, so it adds almost no load to soil that already settled. Foam also goes in through smaller holes and cures in minutes, which is why we use it.
Usually, if the pieces are still whole and sitting on the ground. We lift the sections back into line and the cracks close up or stay put. If the concrete is crumbling or broken into small pieces, replacing it makes more sense, and we’ll tell you that on the visit.
Yes. We level concrete across the metro, including Rio Rancho, Los Ranchos, the North and South Valleys, Paradise Hills, Sandia Heights, Carnuel, and Tijeras. Send the address and a photo and we’ll get back to you.
