Concrete Lifting & Leveling in Ruidoso

Driveway leveling and slab lifting on steep mountain lots

Outdoor concrete in Ruidoso takes more water than its share, and most of it comes from above. A driveway that climbs from the road carries every storm and thaw down its face, and the water ducks into the first open joint it finds. A metal roof drops its snow onto the walk below the eaves, where it melts slowly. Gutters packed with pine needles spill over at the corners. All winter, freezing nights and sunny afternoons work that water in deeper, and summer monsoon storms carry soil away. One panel drops while the rest stay put, leaving a lip at the garage or steps leaning away from the door.

Foam leveling raises that one panel instead of replacing the whole run. Polyurethane goes in through a few holes about as wide as a dime and swells under the low section until the concrete is back in line. The foam is light, and the crew gives return-to-use instructions for the completed lift. It has limits: it can’t lower a slab the frost pushed up, and crumbling concrete should be replaced. Before any lift, we’ll point to where the water gets under it, since the same runoff would pull it down again. If it’s the house or cabin itself that’s settling, see foundation repair.

Typical concrete leveling jobs in Ruidoso

  • Steep driveway panels with a lip at the garage door
  • Parking pads built out over fill that sank at the outer edge
  • Entry steps that tipped away from the front door threshold
  • Hillside walks with one panel dropped below the next
  • Trip-hazard joints on walks at rental cabins and lodges

What we plan around in Ruidoso

  • Steep driveways funneling rain and meltwater into open joints
  • Metal roofs dropping snow in a row along walks and patios
  • Freezing nights and sunny afternoons working water deeper under edges
  • Summer monsoon downpours scouring soil out from under slab edges

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Find the cause

We look at the slab, how far it dropped, and where the water that softened the ground came from.

  2. Step 2

    Drill

A few dime-sized holes go through the slab. No saw cuts and no jackhammer.

  3. Step 3

    Lift

Polyurethane foam goes in under the slab and expands, and we watch the concrete come up as it does.

  4. Step 4

    Patch

The holes get patched and the area cleaned up. The crew confirms when foot traffic and vehicles can return.

Concrete Lifting & Leveling in Ruidoso: common questions

In most cases, yes. The grade doesn’t matter to the foam; it fills under the low panel and raises it until it lines up with the ones above and below. What the slope decides is which panel drops. Runoff collects at whichever end sits lower, at the garage door if the house is below the road, or where the drive meets the road if it’s above. Keeping that joint sealed afterward helps the lift last.
Snow slides off a pitched metal roof all at once and lands in a ridge along the eaves, and rain comes off the same line. If a walk or patio runs under that edge, all of that water soaks in at the slab’s edge and softens or carries off the soil beneath it. We can lift the slab back up, but it will keep dropping unless the water goes somewhere else, so we’ll point out options like a gutter, snow guards, or a gravel drain along the edge.
Usually, if the steps are one solid poured piece and haven’t cracked apart. Steps are often poured separately from the house and sit on soil that was backfilled against the foundation, which tends to be looser than the ground around it, so they settle and tip away from the threshold. Foam goes under them the same way it goes under a walk. If they’re broken into pieces or crumbling, new steps are the better fix, and we’ll tell you that up front.
